Vidal Blanc

Vidal Blanc

Overall Impression:

Vidal Blanc is a French hybrid derived from a cross of Ugni Blanc and a parent of Seyval Blanc. Vidal Blanc is also known as Vidal 256.

Vidal Blanc is grown extensively in Canada and also in the eastern US. This variety is very cold tolerant and produces wines that have nice aromatic properties, smelling particularly of currants. Vidal Blanc is a slow and steady ripening grape with thick skins and is often used for production of late harvest and ice wines.
