Málaga is a port city in the southern region of Andalucía, Spain. Wine has been made in the region since around 600 BC.
Málaga is made from the grape varieties Pedro Ximénes, Moscatel de Alejandría, and sometimes Airén. There are several methods for producing Málaga from drying grapes in the sun to concentrate sugars, to adding alcohol to arrest fermentation, to adding concentrated grape must before or after fermentation. The wines can be anywhere from sweet to dry and can contain between 15 and 23 percent alcohol.
