Grenache Noir

Grenache Noir

Overall Impression:

Grenache Noir is the second most widely planted vine in the world. This variety probably originated in Spain but may have come from Sardinia originally. Spain and southern France have massive amounts of vineyard land in Grenache Noir. Grenache Noir buds early and can produce very high levels of sugar under proper growing conditions. With proper vineyard management encouraging low yields, good color and depth can be achieved producing a wine that can be cellared for many years. This variety is mostly used for producing large volumes of blending stock.
