Sémillon

Sémillon

Overall Impression:

Sémillon most likely is originally from south west France.

Sémillon is easily grown, flowers relatively late, is not susceptible to coulure, and is resistant to disease. Wines made with this variety can have aromas of figs and citrus fruits, tend to be full bodied, and are golden in color. Sémillon has thin skins which make it vulnerable to botrytis infection and therefore it plays a key role in the sweet wines of Sauternes and Barsac.
