This vitis labrusca variety was first propagated in Delaware, Ohio in 1849.
Delaware is mostly grown on the east coast of the United States but is also the most widely planted grape in Japan. The Delaware grape ripens early and has a low level of foxiness when compared to other vitis labrusca varieties.
