Cinsaut

Cinsaut

Overall Impression:

Originally from the Languedoc region of southern France, this grape has centuries of winemaking behind it. Cinsaut has much in common with Grenache and is known in South Africa as Hermitage. Cinsaut has very good drought resistance and produces good wines when managed for low yields. Wines are very aromatic and tend to be lighter and softer than most other red varieties. Cinsaut is used heavily for rosé production.
