'Brew Like a Professional' Spotlight

Honoring Home Brewers,

WHO'VE MADE AN IMPACT

Over the years Wyeast has developed relationships with commercial and homebrewers alike. While we’ve spent our days focused on creating premium liquid yeast, we’ve spent our nights admiring the award-winning beers crafted by those who’ve used our strains. It’s these quality partnerships, cultivated over time, that makes it all worthwhile. Because at the end of the day, working with partners that share our core values, ultimately delivers results (and a culture) we can all be proud of.

VALUED HOME
BREWER PARTNERSHIPS

Home brewers deserve a great deal of recognition. They are often the origin of beer innovation—a trendsetter or a pioneer. And their passion for brewing can only be described as a derivative of their own curiosity or desire for experimentation. They’ve found balance in their life, making time for their family/community and many have carved a legacy as they evolved from home brewer to brewmaster.

At Wyeast, we’re honored to call these home brewers our valued partners and are proud to feature a few in our Brew Like a Professional Spotlight.

Lead Upland Brewers

Eli Trinkle of Upland Brewing Co. was immediately drawn to home brewing after being introduced to it by his neighbor. After just one month of owning his own home brew setup, Eli was brewing all-grain with Wyeast smack-packs and kegging his own beer. Today, Eli is responsible for Upland’s award-winning sours and collaborates with other Upland Lead Brewers to develop their diverse portfolio of beers. The following recipe was chosen in collaboration with Eli and Matt Wisley—Upland’s Innovation Brewer.

Two of Tarts, gose with passionfruit and mango:

Original gravity (before fruit additions): 1.042
Final gravity: 1.009
IBU: 5
SRM: 2
ABV: 4.5%

Yeast:
Wyeast 5223-PC Lactobacillus Brevis
Wyeast 1272 American Ale II

Adam Robbings

When Adam Robbings received a homebrew kit from his wife Grace, he never imagined that brewing would become his livelihood. Fueled by a growing family, fascinated with fermentation and driven by his Londoner roots, Adam crafted “bloody good”, award-winning home brews from Wyeast Smack Packs. And after just three short years of home brewing, Adam opened Reuben's Brews where he is the Brewmaster.

Reuben’s Brews Robust Porter:

Original gravity: 1.059
Final gravity: 1.013
IBU: 30
SRM: 28
ABV: 5.90%

Yeast:
Wyeast 1056 American Ale
